At K Govind, Medical Aesthetics, we’re constantly updating our range of services to suit changing demands, trends and technological advancements.
One of our most recent additions is the ‘IllumiFacial®’, which represents the next generation of ‘Photofacial’ treatment that combines a superficial peel with a medical-grade intense pulse light (IPL) laser for penetrating deep into the skin.
But what is the Illumifacial designed for, and how can this treatment benefit you? We’ll explore this in more detail below!
How Does the Illumifacial Work?
The Illumifacial features a superficial peel, which works by removing dead skin and debris from the surface of your skin.
This enables light from the IPL laser to penetrate much deeper into your skin, stimulating faster and more significant cell turnover. Interestingly, the laser causes your skin to heat up and triggers minor, reversible thermal damage, which in turn prompts higher rates of collagen and elastin production within the dermis.
This promotes natural healing while enhancing the skin’s elasticity, creating a far smoother aesthetic, reducing fine lines and even treating acne breakouts or congestion in the process.
What are the Benefits of an Illumifacial?
As you can see, the Illumifacial is a highly technical and effective treatment can help tackle a broad range of issues and challenges. But what are the main advantages of having an Illumifacial and why should you consider this treatment?
- Your Skin Will be Immediately Smoother and Softer: From your very first IllumiFacial treatment, your skin should start to feel considerably smoother and much softer. The initial superficial peel helps in this respect, by removing rough, dry or flaky patches on the outermost layer of your skin and creating a far smoother appearance.
- A ‘Filter Free’ Treatment for Photo-Ready Skin: An Illumifacial is the latest so-called “Photofacial” treatment, which utilises IPL therapy to improve the texture, colour and appearance of your skin without surgery. Over time, this can also undo some of the more visible damage caused by sun exposure or daily wear and tear.
- Restore and Revive Tired Looking Skin: An IPL laser can also prompt faster cell turnover, while causing nominal (and non-permanent) skin damage that encourages the more rapid production of collagen and elastin. Collagen in particular has incredible healing and anti-inflammatory qualities, which help to naturally rejuvenate your skin and make it appear younger over time.
- Use as Part of a Bespoke Treatment Plan: The Illumifacial is completely non-invasive, while it can be used to help resolve both specific and non-specific skin complaints. It can also be used as part of a broader, bespoke treatment plan, which can be agreed with your consultant and adapted over time.
- Experience Rejuvenated Skin with Minimal Downtime: As an Illumifacial is both non-invasive and non-surgical, it’s capable of rejuvenating your skin with minimal inconvenience and downtime. This includes minimal recovery time, although it’s recommended that you avoid sun exposure for at least 14 days after the treatment!
